Proposed TPG, Vodafone telecommunications deal set for review by Australian regulator

( August 30, 2018, 02:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia's competition regulator has announced plans to review the proposed merger between TPG Telecom and Vodafone Hutchison Australia, after the deal was announced today. In a brief statement, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it was expecting to receive a submission on the deal and other information from the merging parties soon. The regulator said its review would look at the deal's impact on competition for mobile-phone services, where TPG has a "growing presence," and in the market for fixed lines, where Vodafone is a discounter.
