Electro Rent must sell UK arm to preserve competition, says regulator

( May 17, 2018, 13:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Electro Rent, a US provider of electronics testing equipment for rental, must sell its UK arm to preserve competition in the wake of its merger with British rival Microlease last year, the UK antitrust authority said. In February, the Competition and Markets Authority provisionally found that the deal would likely harm competition and lead to "a worse deal" for renters, as only Electro Rent in the UK had the "resources and stock" to compete effectively with Microlease. The new owner of Electro Rent UK will have to be approved by the CMA.Statement follows. The final report and appendices are attached....
