GSK, 31 South Korean pharma companies, distributors fined for bid rigging on vaccine procurement

( July 20, 2023, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: GlaxoSmithKline and 31 other South Korean pharmaceutical companies and vaccine distributors were hit with a combined fine of 40.9 billion won ($32 million) and corrective orders for rigging bids in the South Korean government’s vaccine procurement over a period of six years. The Korea Fair Trade Commission found that the pharmaceutical companies and distributors had colluded to designate the winning bidder and share bidding prices in 170 bidding processes from 2013 to 2019 for essential vaccines, including those for influenza, tuberculosis, tetanus, cervical cancer and pneumococcal diseases.
