USDA, FTC seek public comment on competition in agriculture equipment markets

( October 7, 2026, 15:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Agriculture and the Federal Trade Commission issued a joint request for public comment regarding issues affecting agricultural equipment manufacturing and distribution markets, including potential anticompetitive conduct. Part of the FTC's ongoing work to preserve competition in the agriculture sector, the joint request for information encourages members of the public like farmers, independent repair providers, and current or former employees of agricultural equipment manufacturers and dealers to weigh in to share concerns, the agencies said in a statement. The agencies ask these individuals comment on relevant business models, agreements, contractual terms, restrictions, penalties, retaliation, and broader competitive implications of how policies may impact pricing, market entry, innovation, farmer welfare or rural economic resistance. Comments will be received until end of day Dec. 7, they said. Statement follows below: ...
