Google’s PlayStore fine unmoved by claims of ‘contentious’ EU legal case

The commission disagreed, saying the Digital Markets Act stipulates fines in the case of non-compliance with rules on app developers, and exchanges with company representatives didn’t go beyond the legal duty to cooperate.Google tried unsuccessfully to reduce a €430 million ($494 million) EU fine with an argument that the European Commission was pursuing a “highly contentious” interpretation of digital markets' rules, after the regulator said the company knew what it was up to when running its PlayStore, the published decision showed....
