Google wins partial victory as South Korean court annuls Play Store fine
By Jenny Lee ( September 3, 2026, 06:54 GMT | Insight) -- A three-judge panel at the Seoul High Court upheld the finding by the Korea Fair Trade Commission that Google violated South Korea's competition law by conditioning Play Store featuring and overseas-expansion support on game developers launching titles exclusively, or first, on Play Store rather than rival One Store. But it sided with Google on how the regulator calculated the resulting penalty, ruling that the regulator drew the relevant revenue base too broadly. It ordered the fine to be struck down in full.Google secured the cancellation of a 42.1 billion won ($31 million) antitrust fine on Thursday, but failed to overturn the central finding that it abused Play Store’s market power to keep major mobile games away from rival One Store....
