Thailand orders study of fair rider rates after Lalamove meeting

( August 28, 2026, 06:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Ministry has tasked the Electronic Transactions Development Agency with studying a preliminary fair benchmark for platform rider payments within 15 days, amid concerns that rates have fallen to about 3 baht ($0.09) per kilometer and may be below riders’ actual operating costs. In a statement Thursday following a meeting with Lalamove and rider representatives, the ministry said it plans to work with relevant agencies, platforms and riders on longer-term minimum rates that can adjust to market conditions. Lalamove and riders currently have conflicting data on operating costs. The parties are due to meet again in 15 days.Statement follows (in Thai)....
