Thailand orders study of fair rider rates after Lalamove meeting
( August 28, 2026, 06:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Ministry has tasked the Electronic Transactions Development Agency with studying a preliminary fair benchmark for platform rider payments within 15 days, amid concerns that rates have fallen to about 3 baht ($0.09) per kilometer and may be below riders’ actual operating costs. In a statement Thursday following a meeting with Lalamove and rider representatives, the ministry said it plans to work with relevant agencies, platforms and riders on longer-term minimum rates that can adjust to market conditions.
