Cal-Maine says US DOJ settlement doesn't justify lifting stay in egg antitrust case
( July 16, 2026, 01:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Cal-Maine Foods accused Kraft Foods, Kellogg, General Mills and Nestlé of being willing to misstate the record in their private antitrust litigation "to create a false impression of Cal-Maine's conduct." The plaintiffs request that an Illinois federal court lift the stay on proceedings related to attorneys' fees and costs and provide an update on post-trial motions. "With respect to the first request, Cal-Maine respectfully disagrees with Plaintiffs' argument that Cal-Maine's alleged conduct during the pendency of the stay 'eliminates any reason to continue it,'" Cal-Maine said. The company argued that the resolution of a US Department of Justice action against Cal-Maine — settled without any admissions or findings of liability to resolve an investigation — "does not alter the basis on which the stay was originally granted."See attached document....
