US FTC, states ask judge set trial date in Sygenta, Corteva antitrust suit

( May 22, 2026, 19:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of states told a federal judge that it is now the appropriate time to set a trial date for their antitrust suit against Sygenta and Corteva. "Setting a trial to begin in October 2026 ensures that a trial will begin in October 2026; whether it is a trial against two Defendants or one Defendant, and whether it is before a jury or a judge, can all be determined when those issues are ripe," the plaintiffs said in a memo filed in the Middle District of North Carolina. A trial capped at 80 hours — 40 hours allocated to plaintiffs and 20 to each defendant — is reasonable in light of the complexity of the case, and the likely number of witnesses, the FTC said. Syngenta's proposal implies the need for a 140-hour trial to afford itself at least 35 hours, but the company has already acknowledged 20 hours may be sufficient, the FTC said. See attached file....
