South Korean egg producers association fined for fixing prices

( May 14, 2026, 03:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Korea Egg Producers Association has been fined 594 million won ($398,187) by the country’s competition regulator for fixing egg prices. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Thursday that it fined the association for coordinating egg prices and restricting price competition among its members. The agency found that the association distributed “reference prices” for eggs by size categories through regional committees. The reference prices influenced the actual transaction prices between egg producers and distributors and resulted in market prices matching the association’s announced prices, resulting in higher price margins for egg farmers.
