Fuel retailers association should face liability in Brazil, watchdog recommends

( May 8, 2026, 21:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The investigative body of Brazil’s competition regulator recommended on Friday that a fuel retailers association, as well as its president, be held liable in a probe into coordinated conduct from 2022 to 2025 in the fuel resale market in Distrito Federal. The Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) found in its investigation that the Association of Retail Fuel and Lubricant Traders of Distrito Federal (Sindicombustíveis-DF) and Paulo Tavares, the association’s president during the period of the probe, shared commercial information related to fuel prices through social media posts, interviews and podcasts.
