Yelp seeks to preclude Google from relitigating issues from US DOJ search case

( April 15, 2026, 22:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Yelp filed a motion seeking to prevent Google from relitigating issues previously resolved by US District Judge Amit Mehta in the US Department of Justice's own antitrust case against Google over search services. In August 2024, Mehta found that Google has monopoly power in the relevant market for general search services and that alternative sources for query information, like specialized vertical providers and social media sites, are not adequate substitutes. "Yelp raises the same allegations here: General search services in the United States is a relevant antitrust market, as is search advertising, and Google has monopoly power in the market for general search services," Yelp told a California federal magistrate judge in its motion. See attached file....
