Sports fans, competition harmed by recent Disney transactions, US lawmakers tell US FCC

( April 7, 2026, 19:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Disney's acquisition of Fubo, Disney/ESPN's deal with the National Football League and ESPN's arrangement with Major League Baseball threaten to raise costs for fans and are harmful for competition, US Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Patrick Ryan told the US Federal Communications Commission in a letter. The lawmakers' letter is in response to the agency's request for comment from the public about the current sports broadcast marketplace. “To promote competition in sports media in support of the public interest, we encourage the Commission to act to protect sports fans from growing consolidation,” the lawmakers said.Full release follows. See attached document....
