17 contractors caught in electrification bid-rigging scam by Indian regulator

The Competition Commission of India's order identified that the contractors had coordinated bids and shared data, allegedly inflating procurement costs by at least 75.6 million rupees ($840,000). The CCI ordered the companies to submit financial records so that fines could be calculated.In a significant crackdown on public procurement fraud, India's antitrust watchdog has identified 17 contractors in a bid-rigging conspiracy involving the electrification of 73 police stations across the northeast state of Assam....
