South Korean starch-syrup makers sent examiner's reports over alleged cartel

( March 6, 2026, 06:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s major starch-syrup makers — Daesang, Sajo CPK, Samyang Corporation and CJ CheilJedang — have been issued examiner’s reports by the country’s competition regulator for alleged price-fixing. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Friday that it concluded its 142-day investigation and sent the reports on March 5. Investigators found that the four companies allegedly colluded to fix starch-syrup prices for about seven and a half years from 2018 to 2025, with affected sales estimated at 6.2 trillion won ($4.2 billion). The reports recommend corrective orders, including an order requiring the companies to adjust prices, as well as fines and criminal complaints against responsible executives.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
