Trial in DOJ antitrust lawsuit against Agri Stats set for May 4, US judge rules
( February 24, 2026, 19:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A bench trial in the US Department of Justice's anticompetitive information sharing lawsuit against Agri Stats will commence on May 4, a US federal judge ruled. "Agri Stats has submitted argument to the Court that scheduling a bench trial in United States v. Agri Stats before a jury trial in the separate but related case In re Pork would violate its Seventh Amendment right to a jury trial. The Court disagrees and concludes that allowing the Agri Stats trial to proceed first does not raise constitutional concerns," US District Judge John Tunheim said in an order. The DOJ's September 2023 lawsuit was filed after a series of private antitrust class action lawsuits including In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, In re Turkey Antitrust Litigation and In re Pork Antitrust Litigation. The DOJ's case against Agri Stats and In re Pork are both before the court and ready for trial. "While there is no doubt that the two cases at issue here are related, the parties are not the same," Tunheim said.See attached document....
