Supermarkets' product-delisting process reviewed by New Zealand antitrust watchdog

( January 22, 2026, 00:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Suppliers should come forward if they have concerns about product-delisting processes or other potentially unfair treatment by major supermarkets, New Zealand’s antitrust regulator said. In a statement published Thursday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said that following a recent review, it found Woolworths New Zealand was at risk of not meeting its obligations. The regulator said it issued a warning for a likely breach of the Grocery Industry Competition Act, after which Woolworths updated its processes to meet its obligations. The statement said the recently updated Grocery Supply Code places obligations on major supermarkets when undertaking reviews to decide which products are stocked or “delisted,” to address power imbalances between the retailers and suppliers.Statement follows....
