EU countries defend power to hit abusive companies that don’t dominate market

Competition authorities — in particular in France, Germany and Austria — say the capability is a must-have, even though it hasn’t been used much in recent years.The European Commission's review of the EU Regulation 1/2003 — the law that governs procedure for competition enforcement — has unleashed a stream of lobbying from companies and trade associations eager to influence the application of rules that can cost them billions of euros....
