Australia's Qteq won't survive regulator's proposed antitrust penalties, court hears

By James Panichi ( September 23, 2025, 08:46 GMT | Insight) -- Qteq faces collapse, and the mining-services and equipment company’s more than 50 employees risk losing their jobs if a penalty proposed by Australia’s antitrust regulator is imposed, a Sydney court has heard. In a hearing on Tuesday, Qteq’s lawyer told the Federal Court of Australia that the penalty of between $7.25 million and $8.57 million, combined with the loss of business after the recent civil antitrust trial, “threaten [Qteq’s] commercial existence." Australian mining-services and equipment company Qteq will be bankrupted and its employees will be out of a job if a penalty proposed by the country's antitrust regulator is accepted, a Sydney court has heard....
