Japanese electronics retailer Yodobashi Camera sanctioned by JFTC

( September 8, 2025, 07:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Major Japanese electronics retailer Yodobashi Camera received a corrective recommendation Monday from the Japan Fair Trade Commission for violating the Subcontract Act. According to the JFTC, the Tokyo-based retailer reduced payments totaling 13.5 million yen ($91,000) to six subcontractors — which manufactured, repaired, or provided services for home appliances — from January 2024 to March this year. Yodobashi subsequently paid the deducted amounts to the affected subcontractors by late August. The Small and Medium Enterprise Agency initially identified the potential breach, and requested the JFTC to take appropriate action on July 31. The statement, in Japanese, is attached....
