South Korean game companies fined for misleading loot-box information

( September 8, 2025, 04:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Three South Korean game companies — Com2uS, Cosmos Entertainment and Itoxi — were fined a combined 22.5 million won ($16,000) by the Korea Fair Trade Commission for deceiving users with false information about loot box items, in violation of the Electronic Transactions Act. Cosmos Entertainment was fined 10 million won for falsely suggesting that seven reward items in Online Samgukji 2 were obtainable, when in fact they could not be acquired in a certain level of the game. Com2uS was fined 7.5 million won for misleading players by claiming that certain probabilistic items could be obtained at level 4, when they were actually available at level 3. Itoxi was fined 5 million won for listing probabilities for 10 in-game items in the Super Girls Battle game as if they were obtainable when in fact the game makes it impossible to acquire them.
