Sports arbitration dented but not downed by ECJ’s Seraing ruling

But there was a hitch: such rulings — typically from a Swiss court — need to be open to scrutiny by judges inside the EU. That review may be narrower than once feared by arbitrators, but it has still left open questions and will lead to more squabbling in the booming business of sport.In the Aug. 1 judgment from the EU’s top court, there was a lot at stake. This wasn’t just any old dispute between a Belgian football club and the global governing body FIFA.
