Broadcom avoids violation finding in South Korea set-top box consent decree

( September 3, 2025, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Consent decree procedures between Broadcom and South Korea’s competition regulator have been finalized over alleged coercive supply practices in the set-top box SoC chip market. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said the decree, adopted on Sept. 1, bars Broadcom from demanding exclusivity, tying favorable terms to majority-purchase commitments, or penalizing customers that refuse such conditions. The company is also required to implement a compliance program and submit annual reports through 2031. In addition, Broadcom will contribute 13 billion won (about $9.3 million) to a co-prosperity fund to support training, EDA tool access and promotional programs for local fabless and SME chip firms.
