Consumers suing Amazon met burden for class certification, US judge says

( September 2, 2025, 21:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US judge found that consumers suing Amazon for alleged antitrust violations "met their burden, by a preponderance of the evidence, regarding commonality, predominance" and Rule 23's other requirements for class certification, according to an unsealed order. The plaintiffs are consumers who accuse Amazon of using its significant market power in the online retail marketplaces market to impose inflated fees on third-party sellers. US District Judge John Chun certified a class of "[a]ll persons in the United States who on or after May 26, 2017, purchased five or more new, physical goods from third-party sellers on Amazon's marketplace."  See order. ...
