Lipscomb University basketball player denied injunction against against NCAA

( August 22, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lipscomb University basketball player Derrin Boyd was denied an injunction against the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s eligibility rules that prevent him from participating in NCAA Division II basketball during the 2025-2026 season. “Under the circumstances here, the balance of equities weighs against granting a preliminary injunction. Importantly, Boyd has not shown a likelihood of success on the merits. In addition, although he has shown irreparable harm, the bulk of the asserted harm is loss of access to the substantial [name, image, likeness] opportunities, which is monetary harm that can be redressed at a later stage. Allowing Boyd another season of eligibility will almost certainly come at the expense of another eligible player,” US District Judge William L. Campbell said.See attached file. ...
