Block exemption for vessel-sharing agreements under review in Hong Kong

( August 7, 2025, 05:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's Competition Commission today launched a public consultation through Nov. 7 as part of its second review of the block exemption order for vessel-sharing agreements, or VSAs, between liner shipping companies. The order, first issued in August 2017 and extended in 2022, shield VSAs from antitrust rules that normally prohibit anticompetitive agreements. The commission will assess whether these VSAs still meet the efficiency-exclusion criteria and make a final decision on the future of the order before it expires on Aug. 8 next year, the regulator said in a statement and a notice posted on its website.
