Aircalin's undertakings are approved by New Caledonia's antitrust watchdog

By James Panichi ( July 31, 2025, 08:22 GMT | Insight) -- The clash between government-owned Air Calédonie International and New Caledonia’s travel agents appears to have come to an end, with the French Pacific territory’s antitrust watchdog announcing today that it had accepted the enforceable undertakings put forward by the airline earlier this year. The Autorité de la concurrence de la Nouvelle-Calédonie said it had given the green light to the undertakings, which were the result of a complaint by the association of travel agents expressing concerns over the airline’s financial incentives and alleging preferential treatment for agencies owned by Aircalin.The clash between government-owned Air Calédonie International and New Caledonia’s travel agents appears to have come to an end, with the French Pacific territory’s antitrust watchdog announcing today it had accepted the enforceable undertakings put forward by the airline earlier this year...
