The headquarters of Meta’s Italian subsidiary were raided yesterday, the authority said. In March, Meta decided to pre-install its AI assistant "Meta AI" on the WhatsApp app without requests from users, the regulator said. Meta also placed the AI assistant in a prominent position on the screen and integrated it into the search bar. Meta may be therefore “imposing” this Meta AI service on its WhatsApp users, potentially harming competitors with lock-in effects, the authority said. The statement follows....
