Samsung to pay $1.05 billion to InterDigital for eight-year patent license

( July 29, 2025, 22:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Samsung Electronics Co. will pay $1.05 billion over eight years for a patent license from InterDigital, according to royalties determined by a panel of International Chamber of Commerce arbitrators, InterDigital said in a statement and a US securities filing. The eight-year patent license term commenced on Jan. 1, 2023 and runs through Dec. 31, 2030. Under the agreement, InterDigital will recognize approximately $131 million of recurring revenue per year, a 67 percent increase from the previous license agreement, the company said.Statement follows below.
