US FTC opposes injunction by Media Matters

( July 28, 2025, 20:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission told a federal judge that the court lacks jurisdiction and Media Matters for America lacks standing regarding its request for an injunction against an investigation launched by the FTC. “The [civil investigative demand] imposes no legal obligations on Media Matters unless and until the FTC seeks to enforce it in district court. All of Media Matters’ claims can and should be addressed in that enforcement action, rather than at the current preliminary stage when the CID remains fluid and subject to discussion among the parties,” it argued.
