( July 21, 2025, 20:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, FTC Commissioner Melissa Holyoak and agency Executive Director David Robbins filed an emergency motion for a stay pending appeal on the reinstatement of fired Democratic commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter. The defendants-appellants said the US District for the District of Columbia reinstated Slaughter "in defiance" of recent Supreme Court precedent staying similar reinstatements in other cases which "works a grave harm to the separation of powers and the President’s ability to exercise his authority under the Constitution." Along with the emergency motion filed to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, the government also sought an administrative stay while judges consider the motion. "That extraordinary relief significantly and unjustifiably intrudes on the President’s constitutional authority," the filing said.See attached document....
