Google's YouTube consent-decree proposal enters consultation phase in South Korea

The Korea Fair Trade Commission said today it will collect feedback from relevant ministries and stakeholders through Aug. 14 before deciding whether to finalize the deal. Under the tentative agreement, Google would launch a lower-cost “YouTube Premium Lite” subscription excluding music, freeze prices for up to a year and invest 15 billion won (about $10.9 million) in programs to support South Korean artists. The proposed measures also include 7.5 billion won for two-month extended free trials and another 7.5 billion won for reseller-based discounts. The remedies are aimed at addressing concerns that Google limited consumer choice by not offering a standalone video subscription.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
