Choose ride apps like Bolt, DiDi over Uber, New Zealand antitrust regulator says

( July 14, 2025, 01:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Choose ride-hailing apps such as Bolt and DiDi because they charge drivers lower commissions than Uber, New Zealand competition regulator says. In a social media post through his LinkedIn account, New Zealand Commerce Commission Chair John Small said that New Zealand drivers prefer Bolt and DiDi over Uber “because the tax rates are lower.” He added that Uber takes 28 percent from the fare, “against 20 percent for Bolt and DiDi.” He added that since most drivers are “multi-homing,” using all three apps to get bookings, meaning riders are unlikely to face longer wait times or different cars or drivers when choosing Bolt or DiDi. He added that customers could be “kinder” to the drivers by choosing Bolt and DiDi over Uber. The full social media post follows:...
