US House committees introduce joint, bipartisan bill for national NIL framework

( July 10, 2025, 19:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Leadership from the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Committee on Education and Workforce, and Committee on the Judiciary introduced the SCORE Act which aims to empower student-athletes and help them gain legal protections to enter into Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) agreements and hire agents, while receiving student privacy protections and support for financial literacy, contract guidance and brand-building. The bill, which is a part of a bipartisan joint committee process to stabilize the NIL marketplace, aims to prohibit pay-for-play and predatory compensation schemes, while reserving appropriate guarantees to agent access.Statement follows.
