US DOJ allowed to intervene in private suit against alleged fragrance cartel

( June 30, 2025, 19:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice can intervene in a proposed class action targeting an alleged price-fixing cartel among some of the world's largest fragrance companies, a US federal court ruled. Granting the DOJ Antitrust Division's motion-to-intervene, the District of New Jersey said the DOJ's intervention is timely and that it has sufficient interest in the civil litigation as a result of an ongoing federal criminal investigation with common questions of law and fact. The DOJ's interest in the integrity of its criminal investigation may be impacted by discovery in the matter, the court said. See attached document...
