Krafton, Com2uS fined by South Korea's competition regulator for e-commerce violations

( June 16, 2025, 06:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online gaming companies Krafton and Com2uS have been fined a combined 5 million won (about $3,700) by South Korea’s competition regulator for misleading consumers about item-probabilities in their online games. The Korea Fair Trade Commission found that Krafton falsely displayed drop rates for in-game items in PUBG: Battlegrounds, including items with a zero percent chance of being won, while Com2uS exaggerated the likelihood of gaining performance boosts from items in Starseed: Asnia Trigger. Both companies were ordered to submit corrective measures and future prevention plans. The regulator said it refrained from imposing business suspensions or heavier penalties given the short duration of the violations and the companies’ voluntary refunds and consumer redress.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
