Musixmatch moves to dismiss US antitrust lawsuit from LyricFind

( June 5, 2025, 19:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lyric services provider Musixmatch asked a California federal judge to throw out rival LyricFind's antitrust lawsuit. According to the complaint, Musixmatch entered into an exclusive agreement with music publisher Warner Chappell Music, or WCM, that cut off LyricFind’s and other providers’ previous non-exclusive access to WCM’s lyric catalog. Musixmatch, in its motion to dismiss, wrote that LyricFind’s alleged injury flows from WCM’s "lawful decision" to end its relationship with LyricFind. "As the Court well knows, the antitrust laws protect competition, not particular competitors, and this case should be dismissed for myriad reasons," Musixmatch wrote. See attached file....
