Hindalco, Vedanta freed of abuse of dominance charges by Indian watchdog

By Freny Patel ( June 6, 2025, 07:01 GMT | Insight) -- Allegations of abuse of dominance filed against India's leading copper suppliers, Hindalco Industries and Vedanta, were dismissed by the country's antitrust watchdog. Airen Metals and Airen Copper alleged the two suppliers collectively controlled an estimated 75 percent of India's refined copper market, imposed unfair and discriminatory conditions on buyers and prematurely invoked bank guarantees. The Competition Commission of India concluded that there was no prima facie case of contravention under the 2002 Competition Act and that the concept of "collective dominance" was not recognized under the Act.Allegations of abuse of dominance filed against India's leading copper suppliers, Hindalco Industries and Vedanta, were dismissed by the country's antitrust watchdog....
