Reverse UK court ruling’s effect on litigation funding, report says

( June 2, 2025, 13:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The effect of a ruling by the UK Supreme Court — which found that certain types of third-party litigation funding agreements were a form of damages-based agreement and unenforceable — should be reversed by legislation, says a report from the Civil Justice Council’s Working Party on Litigation Funding. The report also says that "differential regulation" should apply to litigation funding provided to commercial parties, consumer parties and parties engaged in collective proceedings, representation actions and group litigation.Statement follows....
