Probe into REA Group confirmed by Australian competition watchdog

( May 29, 2025, 02:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Australian antitrust regulator has confirmed that it's investigating online property giant REA Group. In a statement to MLex today, an Australian Competition & Consumer Commission spokesperson said that the investigation was at an early stage and the regulator was “yet to form a view.” The regulator added that it “is concerned to ensure there is strong competition in the important real estate sector.” The regulator’s confirmation comes after the REA Group’s statement to the Australian Securities Exchange saying that it had received a “section 155” notice from the watchdog seeking information regarding company’s subscription offerings.
