South Korea antitrust regulator to survey data-handling practices in AI era

( May 23, 2025, 03:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s competition regulator will conduct a market survey of major online service providers to examine their data-handling practices amid the growing importance of data in the artificial-intelligence era. The Korea Fair Trade Commission, or KFTC, announced that it will soon send written inquiries to major companies across seven business sectors involved in the collection, storage and use of data. The seven sectors are online advertising, social networking, e-commerce, online search, online messaging, app marketplaces and over-the-top media services. The survey will assess practices related to data collection, storage, processing, analysis, utilization and transactions, and identify any instances of unfair business practices.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
