Apple asks US judge to reconsider previous order, dismiss private antitrust case

( May 17, 2025, 00:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple asked a Washington federal judge today to reconsider her previous order allowing a putative class to change the class representative suing the companies over an alleged illegal agreement to restrict the number of third-party sellers permitted to offer iPhones and iPads on Amazon’s marketplace. Apple also asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice. In a court filing, Apple said that when the judge granted the plaintiff's motion to amend, she did so with the understanding that the previous named plaintiff who brought the lawsuit, Steven Floyd, would remain part of the case. But Floyd had already told his counsel he wanted to withdraw from this litigation, and his counsel "withheld that information from the Court," Apple asserted. Motion to reconsider attached....
