Red Bull and EU Commission clash in court over dawn raid's legality

By Jean Comte ( May 16, 2025, 12:30 GMT | Insight) -- Energy drink maker Red Bull told judges today that inspections conducted at its premises by EU investigators in March 2023 were unlawful because they relied solely on a submission by the corporate rival Monster. The European Commission defended the raid as the best way to assess the allegations, saying that contacting Red Bull's commercial partners would have made the drinks maker aware of the probe and might have triggered reprisals.Red Bull, the Austrian energy drink maker, contested the legality of dawn raids conducted on its premises by the European Commission during a hearing at the EU General Court today....
