Japan's amended subcontract law enacted by parliament today

( May 16, 2025, 09:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s amendment bill to the subcontract law received support from both chambers of parliament today. The revised bill sets the enforcement date for Jan. 1, 2026, following revisions introduced during parliamentary sessions. Under the new law, subcontractors will be called small and medium-sized contractors. Additionally, the Japan Fair Trade Commission published outlines of the law and the process of the bill’s parliamentary debates.
