Google should be sanctioned, denied summary judgment, Texas-led states say

( May 13, 2025, 19:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Texas-led coalition of states urged a US federal court to deny Google’s motion for summary judgment and grant their motion for sanctions against the tech giant in an illegal monopolization lawsuit over digital advertising technology markets, saying a court in Virginia hearing a similar lawsuit has rejected Google’s key arguments decisively. In a filing to the Eastern District of Texas, the states said that the Eastern District of Virginia, which recently found Google to have illegally monopolized some adtech markets, has adopted the government's market definition for publisher ad servers and ad exchanges and found that Google has monopoly power in both markets."This Court has an independent duty to rule in this case based on the record here. But a finding by a preponderance of the evidence by a respected federal judge should induce, at minimum, a strong reluctance to find no dispute of material fact. Either Judge [Leonie] Brinkema is not a reasonable factfinder, or this case should be decided by a trial," the states said.See attached file....
