EU Commission takes stock of 2024 competition activity, publishes report

( April 25, 2025, 10:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Last year, the European Commission continued to "vigorously enforce" EU competition rules in the fields of antitrust, merger and state aid control, including its two internal market tools, the Digital Markets Act and the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, the regulator said today, when releasing its latest activity report. Last year, the watchdog adopted ten decisions within antitrust and cartels. In mergers, the number of notified mergers remained high, with 398 merger decisions having been adopted of which 351 were simplified. Eight decisions were cleared with conditions. Last year, the watchdog also continued its "ambitious review" of competition regulations, guidelines and notices, to simplify rules and make them clearer for businesses. Statement follows.
