Law professors say independence of US Fed rests on same foundation as that of FTC

"Markets could construe denial as undermining the carefully calibrated institutional design of the Federal Reserve System, which prevents the President from removing members of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors (or from demoting the Board’s Chair) before they have completed their statutory terms, except for cause.
