Japanese heater maker Corona violated subcontract law, JFTC says

( April 17, 2025, 06:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Corona, a major Japanese manufacturer of kerosene heaters and water heaters, received a corrective recommendation today from the Japan Fair Trade Commission, or JFTC, for violating the Subcontract Act. According to the antitrust regulator, the publicly listed company based in Niigata Prefecture forced its 33 subcontractors to store 1,818 of its metal molds since March 2023 without providing compensation. The company has been instructed to pay storage fees and to refrain from demanding unfair economic benefits from its subcontractors in the future. Corona has begun the process of discarding unnecessary metal molds and making the required payments, according to the JFTC. The statement, in Japanese, is attached....
