Ten carmakers, two groups fined in UK for vehicle-recycling cartel

( April 1, 2025, 15:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ten car manufacturers — BMW, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot Citroen, Renault, Toyota, Vauxhall and Volkswagen — and two trade associations were today fined 77.7 million pounds by the UK’s antitrust watchdog for a cartel over the recycling of scrapped vehicles. The Competition and Markets Authority today announced that the companies and the associations — ACEA and the SMMT — had settled the probe, shortly after the European Commission announced its own sanction for the conduct.
