Musk defends US claims against Microsoft, OpenAI

( March 24, 2025, 15:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Counsel for Elon Musk opposed a motion to dismiss a broad lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft over OpenAI’s transition to a for-profit organization. They argued that Microsoft and OpenAI together command approximately 69 percent of the generative artificial intelligence market, and their joint conduct reflects a classic pattern of anticompetitive market strangulation — not healthy competition. That conduct has directly harmed Musk’s xAI by restricting its access to capital markets, preventing it from licensing OpenAI’s technology, forcing it to pay vastly higher prices for computing resources or build its own infrastructure at enormous cost, and making it difficult to recruit critical AI personnel.
